Yoko’s Story 1

This furisode was made for my coming-of-age ceremony. My tea teacher was friends with my mother. We three went to see kimono on sale and we picked it out together. I don’t have much memory of it, but I like this furisode. I also wore it when I demonstrated tea ceremony since I got a tea ceremony master’s certificate. It was snowing on our coming-of-age ceremony day.

After attending the ceremony, my friends and I explored the very busy town of Shinjuku in our unfamiliar furisode. I wonder how we could do that. It was fun.

I wore it when I was engaged. Also my daughter wore it on her coming-of-age ceremony and her wedding party. This kimono is full of good memories.
