My mother was an ordinary housewife who liked kimono. I don’t remember her wearing them much, she didn’t have the opportunity, but she liked looking at them. I have a memory of my grandmother doing arai hari. It is amazing to think that they used to take everything apart and paste it on boards and then resew it.

母は着物が好きでした。普通の主婦だったので、あまり着るチャンスがなく、母の着物姿もあまり覚えていませんが、着物を見るのは好きでした。

また、祖母が洗い張りをしていたのは覚えています。昔の人は、着物を全てバラバラにして、洗って板に張って縫い直していたなんて、すごいと思います。
