Mika’s Influences

Until when I was three years old my family ran a sushi restaurant. In the restaurant, we played the music of the koto (Japanese table harp), and my grandmother was always working there with her kappougi,(kimono apron) on. I was always with my grandmother and we often watched the period drama TV programs together. I might have been influenced by that environment. After I started to wear kimono by myself, I came to like maiko and geisha. I always check the instagram page of geisha and refer their style. I visit Kyoto every year to watch the maiko and geisha’s dance recital and buy kimono accessories at the shops which are frequented by maiko and geisha. I don’t flutter when I see a handsome guy, but my heart leaps up when I see geisha.
