INFLUENCES 影響
Atsuko ( daughter ) : My mother (Kiyoko) was probably influenced by her own mother who was always in kimono and who not only sewed kimono, but also did unpicking, stretching and cleaning of the kimono in their garden. Kiyoko did not do this. However, she preferred to be in kimono most of the time, except for when she went on excursions with her children’s classes or to some sports day. She owns many montsuki haori and also seems to have had a liking for summer kimono, as she has more summer kimono than would normally be expected. My brother remembers mother (Kiyoko) coming home in summer, taking off her kimono, filling her mouth with water and spraying it onto the kimono, to refresh it.
母（喜代子さん）はたぶん祖母（喜代子さんの母）からの影響を強く受けていると思います。祖母は着物を毎日着ていただけでなく、縫ったり、ほどいたり、庭で洗い張りをしたりしていました。母（喜代子さん）はそこまでしませんでしたが、ほぼ毎日着物で生活していました。私の運動会や学校行事には洋服で参加してくれました。紋付黒羽織が多く残っています。また、夏着物を他のものに比べて思っていた以上に持っているので特に好きだったようです。
兄から思い出話を聞きました。母が夏ものを着た後、それを室内に吊すと、口に思い切り水を含み、口から霧のように着物に吹きかけました。着物の汗を飛ばすためです。
