PROBLEMS 困っていること
I really don’t know how to use the kimono which I’ve been given from other people which are not my size. To re-sew them to my size costs a lot, sometimes it would be cheaper just to buy a new one, that I like. There are some other ideas instead of making them my size, for example turning them into obi or parasols, but I don’t have enough courage use scissors to cut up kimono. I do not have the imagination to make other clothes from these kimono. Also I have a pile of kimono, the ones I wear a lot, that have split along the hem. Mending them costs a lot, and I have others I can wear, so they just sit there in a growing pile.
I am not satisfied with the line of the collar and chin area of my outfits. I’m trying to find a way of making it more beautiful, and for reference I watch women who wear kimono beautifully.
Also I don’t have confidence to iron kimono. I can’t put an iron on strongly, so I can’t remove the wrinkles.
I think it would be useful to have a footwear shop in the neighborhood. I can’t fix hanao by myself, so I just have to put up with it when they get too loose.
いただいた着物でサイズの合わないものをどう活かすか悩みます。
自分のサイズに直すにはお金がかかり、時には自分の好みのものを新しく買った方が安かったりします。サイズを直さずに帯に作り変える、または日傘に作り変えるというアイデアもあるのですが着物にハサミを入れることに抵抗があります。洋服に作り変えるという発想はありません。
また、よく着る着物の裾がすり切れてしまうのですが、そんな着物がたまっています。裾を直すにはお金がかかるし、そして他にも着る着物はあるから急いで直さなくても良いし、、、と、たまってしまいます。
また、着物の着方のなかで衿の周りがしっくりきません。自分の顔立ちに合うように着たいです。きれいに着ている人を参考にしたりしています。
着物にアイロンをかけるのも自信がなく、正しくかけているか不安で、着物から浮かしてかけていたりするので結局シワがとれなかったりします。
あとは、鼻緒の調整が自分ではできないので履物屋さんが近所にあるといいなと思います。履物は着物以上にあちこちで買うのですが、鼻緒を直してもらうためにその店に持っていくのは大変なので、緩いのを我慢して履いたりしています。
