This omeshi is the first kimono I bought myself. It is Nishijin omeshi. It was when I was in my 40s, and I went to free kimono lesson course. Until then I just wore kimono my own way, I had not had lessons because my mother taught me. They made a kind of study group and take you to see the kimono being woven. I wear it out and about and it is very versatile. It is almost 20 years old, but it still looks new. I actually have my sleeves cut a little longer than the standard size. I didn’t realize it until I bought a ready made kimono, and found that my nagajuban didn’t fit it properly. I like the longer sleeves.
この西陣お召しは初めて自分のお金で買った着物です。40代でした。その時までは母から着物の着方を習い、自分流で着ていましたが、無料の着付けレッスンに行きました。着物の勉強会として、グループで着物を織っている所まで連れて行かれました。この着物はとても便利でどこへ行くにも着ています。ほぼ20年前のものですけど新品に見えます。私の着物の袖は通常の仕立て上がりで売っている着物に比べると袖丈の寸法が長いです。このことは、仕立て上がりの着物を購入したとき、自分が作った襦袢と合わないので初めて知りました。袂が長い方が好みです。
