I first encountered antique kimono when I was taken to an antique kimono fair by my co-worker. I always dress in a simple and quiet way in my regular clothing, but there I was recommended a kimono with a very bold floral pattern. When I tried it, all the people there said I looked really good, so I surprised myself by buying it, and that was the start of my enthusiasm for kimono. Around the same time I met a woman who was writing a style book about antique kimono, and I was impressed by her, and her book. Now her book is my kimono bible and I refer to this book and some others for coordination ideas. I also go to the websites and events of young kimono artisans and I enjoy going to their events and seeing their new products and all the people dressed in kimono who go there.
仕事の先輩にアンテｲ―ク着物のイベントに連れて行ってもらったことがアンテｲ―ク着物との出会いでした。洋服はいつもシンプルでどちらかというと地味な物を着ているので、イベント会場のマーケットでもシックな着物や地味な着物に目がいきましたが、強く勧められ華やかな花柄の着物を羽織ったところ、周りの方にとてもほめていただき、つい衝動買いしたことが着物を大好きになるきっかけでした。同時期にアンテｲ―ク着物の着こなしをイラストで出版している方とお会いする機会があり、その方と本にすっかり魅せられ、今ではその本が私のバイブルになっています。そのほかにもアンテｲ―ク着物の本を何冊か読んで、色や柄の組み合わせを参考にしています。
また、同年代で親しくなった、若手の着物作家さんのウェブサイトやイベントも頻繁にチェックしていますし、他の様々な若手作家さんのイベントにもでかけて、新しい商品や着ている人達の着物姿を見ることが楽しくてしかたありません。
